Tanzanite
The
blue variety of zoisite discovered in Tanzania (East
Africa) in 1967 is commonly known as Tanzanite.
The rare gem was named for its source, Tanzania,
the only place it is found.

Appearance:
Tanzanite has a characteristic blue color, usually with a violet tinge. Considering the unique mix of purple, violet and blue hues. The stone has sometimes different color and it is heated to certain degree and then it changes it color. It is quite a normal process, the stone has vitreous luster. It is given all type of cuts. Tanzanite has become popular gemstone since its discovery.
Occurrence:
Tanzanite was first found in Tanzania. The chief deposited is apparently nearly exhausted.
Value:
Given its attractive color, its rarity and the publicity which greeted its discovery, the value of tanzanite is quite high. Tanzanite is always found in small quantity as compare to its demand.
